Chongqing Steel inks supply deal for 200,000 mt of shipbuilding steel

Chongqing-based Chinese steelmaker Chongqing Iron and Steel Co. (Chongqing Steel), a subsidiary of Chongqing Iron and Steel (Group) Co., has signed a shipbuilding steel supply agreement amounting to a total of 200,000 mt for 2013 with Jiangsu Province-based New Times Shipbuilding Co. and Jiangsu-based Jingjiang New Century Steel Structure Production Co., as announced by Chongqing Steel Group on January 16.
 
In 2012, Chongqing Steel Group’s shipbuilding steel sales volume totaled 2.01 million mt, ranking first in China and becoming the largest high-grade shipbuilding steel production base in the domestic market. In 2013 year to date, Chongqing Steel Group has signed contracts with China State Shipbuilding Co. and Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Holding for shipbuilding steel supplies of 1 million mt and 400,000 mt respectively.
