Overall domestic coal prices in China are generally on the rise at the current time. Prices of coking coal concentrate in Shanghai and of lignite in the Inner Mongolia region have increased by 5.88 percent and 6.48 percent respectively. Meanwhile, coal prices at Qinhuangdao port have increased by RMB 10/mt ($1.5/mt). All comparisons are with the previous week.

Li Xuegang, general manager of Qinhuangdao-based Coal Exchange Center, said that domestic coal prices would maintain their upward trend and continue to rise in the coming period. He said it was believed that coal prices had no room for decline since coal supplies were facing exhaustion in eastern China.
