Chinese coal consumption amounts to 2.81 billion mt in Jan-Sept

China's National Energy Administration has stated that in the January-September period of the current year the country's coal consumption amounted to 2.81 billion mt due to improved industrial production and increased thermal power. Coal consumption in the building materials, electric power, steel and chemical industries accounted for 85 percent of the total coal consumption figure in the given period, up 1.6 percentage points compared to the same period last year.

Li Fulong, deputy director of the development planning division of the National Energy Administration, stated that the improvement in China’s economy this year contributed to the increased coal consumption in the January-September this year.
