China’s trade surplus in October hits new high

According to the statistics released by China's General Administration of Customs, China's exports in October increased 19.2 percent year on year to $128.33 billion, while imports rose 15.6 percent to $93.09 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of $35.239 billion, again marking a new historical high for a third consecutive month.

In the first ten months of the current year, China's trade volume reached $2.188669 trillion in value, up 24.4 percent year on year. Over the same period of time, Chinese exports totaled $1.202332 trillion, up 21.9 percent, a decrease of 4.6 percentage points compared with the same period last year. Meanwhile, imports totaled $986.338 billion, up 27.6 percent year on year, an increase of 7.8 percentage points year on year. Thus, the total trade surplus for the January-October period reached $215.993 billion, up $3.624 billion year on year.
