In November this year, China's producer price index (PPI) for its ferrous metal smelting and rolling sector decreased by 5.3 percent year on year, 0.8 percentage points slower than the year-on-year decrease rate recorded in October, according to data released by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on December 10. In December, producers’ prices will likely indicate a downward trend due to slacker demand in winter in the Chinese steel market.

China's overall producer price index (PPI) edged down by 1.4 percent year on year in November, with the declining pace 0.2 percentage points slower than in October, down 0.1 percent month on month. Meanwhile, in November Chinese industrial producers' purchase prices were down 2.2 percent year on year and declined by 0.1 percent compared to October.
