China’s steel bar imports up 3.5 percent in January-September

In September this year, China’s import volumes of steel bars amounted to 100,000 mt, down 7.8 percent year on year, while its import volumes of angles/channels, steel plate, and steel pipes and hollow profiles totaled 30,000 mt, 1.04 million and 40,000 mt, up 20.5 percent, 10.7 percent and 28 percent, respectively, year on year, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities.

In the January-September period of the current year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate, and steel pipes and hollow profiles amounted to 920,000 mt, 300,000 mt, 8.32 million mt and 310,000 mt, up 3.5 percent, 24.1 percent, 0.6 percent and 10.1 percent, respectively, year on year.

As previously reported by SteelOrbis, In September this year, China imported 1.24 million mt of finished steel, up 25.25 percent month on month and increasing by 9.7 percent year on year. In the January-September period, China’s imports of finished steel totaled 10.01 million mt, rising by 1.8 percent year on year.
