In the January-October period this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output in China amounted to 28.21 million dead weight tons (dwt), down 14.2 percent year on year, as announced by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI). In the given period, China’s new ship orders amounted to 18.83 million dwt, decreasing by 7.6 percent year on year. As of the end of October, ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 106.02 million dwt, down 20.6 percent year on year and decreasing by 13.8 percent compared to the end of 2015.
In the January-October period this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders in China totaled 25.95 million dead weight tons (dwt), down 10.3 percent year on year and accounting for 92 percent of the total shipbuilding output in China in the given period. Meanwhile, China’s new ship export orders in the period in question amounted to 15.29 million dwt, decreasing by 14.5 percent year on year and constituting 81.2 percent of total new ship orders. As of the end of October, ship export orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 99.02 million dwt, down 21.4 percent year on year and constituting 93.4 percent of total ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises.
