China's PPI up 6.9 percent in January

In January this year, China's producer price index (PPI) increased by 6.9 percent year on year and was up 0.8 percent month on month, according to data released by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on February 14. Meanwhile, in January Chinese industrial producers' purchase prices were up 8.4 percent year on year and rose by 1.2 percent compared to the previous month.

In January this year, the PPI for capital goods increased by 9.1 percent year on year. Specifically, in January the PPI for the domestic raw material industry was up 12.9 percent, while the index for the processing industry rose by 5.9 percent, both year on year.
