China's metcoke exports up nearly 270,000 mt in Aug

In August China exported 1,243,588 mt of metallurgical coke for a total of $278.44 million, up 266,689 mt and $84 milllion respectively from July.

Exports to Japan in August accounted for 28 percent (348,230 mt) of the total tonnage figure, and were worth $77.63 milllion. Japan was followed by Brazil (192,140 mt worth $42.48 million), South Korea (108,608 mt worth $26.94 million), Belgium (98,513 mt at $23.32 million), Turkey (92,148 mt at $21.86 million), India (66,000 mt at $14.75 million), Holland (54,815 mt worth $12.3 million), Italy (54,285 mt at $11.7 million) and US (53,670 mt at $11.64 million).

In the January-August 2007 period, China's total coke exports reached 10,266,854 mt, worth a total of nearly $1.82 billion. Of this figure, 2.37 million mt was exported to Japan at a value of $445.10 milllion; 1.65 million mt to Brazil at $283.63 million; 1.01 million mt to the US at $170.44 million; 988,924 mt to Belgium at $169.76 million; 762,095 mt to India at $137.79 million, and 426,403 mt to Turkey at a value of $79.17 million.
