China-based giant engineering contractor MCC's managing director Shen Heting, who has been in talks with the Iranian Mining and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), has lately expressed MCC's interest in having a greater share in the construction of steel plants in Iran.

Mr. Heting said, "Financing Iranian steel projects, participating in the construction of steel plants and implementing projects through buy-back agreements are some of the ways in which we can cooperate with the Iranians."

MCC is currently the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for a meltshop with a designed annual capacity of 800,000 metric tons for Arfa Iron and Steel company, a steekmaker based in the central Iranian province of Yazd.
