China's industrial enterprises see profits grow 15.6%

According to China's National Bureau of Statistics, the profits of China's industrial enterprises increased 15.6% year on year to reach RMB 390 billion (approximately $47 billion) in the first four months of 2005. The Bureau adds that the sales income of the enterprises increased 26% year on year to RMB 6.8 trillion during the same period. The profit growth of the iron and steel industry bettered the average of the industrial enterprises as a whole, coming in at 19.2% for the first four months.
