China’s industrial enterprises’ gross profit up 10.3 percent in 2018

In 2018, the aggregate gross profit of large and medium-sized industrial enterprises in China amounted to RMB 6.63514 trillion ($0.99 trillion), up 10.3 percent year on year, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

In 2018, of the 41 industrial sectors in China, 32 witnessed year-on-year increases in gross profit, while nine saw decreases in gross profit. In the given period, the ferrous metals mining and dressing sector and the automotive sector recorded respective gross profits of RMB 7.26 billion ($1.1 billion) and RMB 609.13 billion ($90.5 billion), declining by 34.4 percent and 4.7 percent year on year, respectively.

At the same time, the ferrous metal smelting and rolling sector, the metal manufacturing sector and the railway, shipping, aerospace and other transportation equipment manufacturing sector recorded gross profits of RMB 402.93 billion ($59.9 billion), RMB 159.02 billion ($23.6 billion) and RMB 67.3 billion ($10.0 billion), up 37.8 percent, 8.0 percent and 5.8 percent year on year, respectively.
