China's gross domestic product (GDP) indicated a year-on-year increase of 6.7 percent to RMB 74.4127 trillion ($10.83 trillion) in 2016, as announced by China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on January 20. In particular, respective year-on-year increases in GDP of 6.7 percent, 6.7 percent, 6.7 percent and 6.8 percent were recorded in the first, second, third and fourth quarters of 2016.
In 2016, China’s domestic primary, secondary and tertiary industries contributed RMB 6.3671 trillion ($0.93 trillion), RMB 29.6236 trillion ($4.31 trillion) and RMB 38.4221 trillion ($5.59 trillion) to the country’s GDP, rising by 3.3 percent, 6.1 percent and 7.8 percent respectively on year-on-year basis.
