China’s coal imports up 14.2 percent in January-August

In August this year, China’s coal imports totaled 25.27 million mt, up 29.8 percent month on month, while down 5.0 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on September 8.

In the January-August period of the current year, China’s coal imports amounted to 177.82 million mt, rising by 14.2 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, China exported 60,000 mt coal in August, decreasing by 87.5 percent month on month, while decreasing 92.1 percent year on year, while it exported 5.91 million mt in the January-August period, up 4.3 percent year on year.
