China’s coal and lignite imports down 10.3 percent in Jan-Aug

In the January-August period this year, China imported 197.688 million mt of coal and lignite, down 10.3 percent year on year, shifting from a year-on-year rise to a decline compared to the trend recorded in the first seven months this year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on September 7.

In August alone, China imported 28.052 million mt of coal and lignite, down 14.9 percent year on year, while declining by 7.04 percent month on month.
