China Iron and Steel Association's (CISA) deputy general secretary Luo Bingsheng has announced that China's total crude steel production in 2007 is expected to reach 490 million mt, up 16 percent year on year.

In the first ten months of the year, the country produced 408 million mt of crude steel, up 18.14 percent year on year.

According to Luo Bingsheng, both domestic and foreign demand provide support for production in China, though the macro-control policies of the government curb the growth of production.
