China’s 2007 ship exports total US$12.2 billion

According to Chinese customs, in 2007 the value of China's exports of ships increased by 52 percent year on year to US$12.24 billion, with an average monthly export value of over US$1 billion.

Exports of the three main ship models produced by China exceeded US$7 billion in 2007; of these, exports of container vessels below 6000 TEU reached US$3.404 billion, up 62.12 percent year on year, exports of oil tankers below 100,000 DWT were worth US$1.991 billion, up 74.37 percent year on year; and exports of bulk cargo vessels below 150,000 DWT totaled US$1.656 billion, up 32.39 percent. Exports of these three vessel categories amounted to US$7.05 billion, accounting for 57.6 percent of total ship exports.

In addition, exports of 13 categories of 150,000-300,000 DWT vessels such as crude oil carriers, multi-purpose motor vessels, roll-off ships and dredgers reached US$100 million, out of which exports of dredgers registered a rapid increase, up 11-fold.
