China will ask permission from the World Trade Organization (WTO) to impose sanctions on the US next week for its non-compliance with a WTO ruling over US antidumping (AD) duties, according to Reuters.

Reuters stated that in 2013 China initiated a dispute regarding US antidumping duties on several industries including machinery and electronics, light industry, metals and minerals, with an annual export value of up to $8.4 billion. China filed a complaint about the way the US calculated the amount of dumping.

China won a WTO ruling regarding this case in 2016, which was confirmed by an appeal last year. However, last month China informed the WTO that the deadline for the US to comply with the ruling expired on August 22.
