China-Taiwan trade growth continues

Taiwan's Board of Foreign Trade disclosed that total trade between Taiwan and China rose 33.1% year-on-year to $61.6 billion in 2004 thanks to China's rapid economic expansion. China accounted for 18% of Taiwan's total trade last year. Taiwan's trade surplus with China rose 15.9% to $28.3 billion in 2004. Country's exports to China totaled $44.96 billion, up 27.2% and imports amounted to $16.68 billion, up 52.2%. China has been Taiwan's largest export market since November 2002, despite political differences.
