China Railway Corp. to implement Cargo Increment Action Program for 2018-20

Chinese state-owned railway company China Railway Corporation (CRC) has announced that it will implement a Cargo Increment Action Program for 2018-2020, to enhance transportation capacity and lower logistics costs. It stated that the total freight volume transported by railway in China will amount to 4.79 billion by 2020, up 30 percent from the end of 2017. In particular, coal shipments will amount to 2.81 billion mt, up by 650 million mt from 2017.

In the first half of this year, the overall freight volume transported by China’s railways amounted to 1.95 billion mt, up 7.4 percent year on year.
