An export quota and license system is to be imposed on indium and molybdenum products as of June 18 - as stated in Announcement No.54, 2007 issued by China's Ministry of Commerce and General Administration of Customs. The qualified enterprises should apply to the local commercial authorities in order to obtain their license and export quota. They will then have to present the license at customs when they seek to export indium and molybdenum products.
After China's implementation of this export quota and license system, its export of molybdenum products will be curbed to a certain extent, and this will greatly affect the export market of ferromolybdenum. It will be difficult for Taiwan, Netherlands, US, Japan, South Korea and some other major molybdenum importing countries to receive supplies from China in the future.
