China and Thailand ink EPC contract for super-large steel project

Prime Minister of Thailand Samak Sundaravei has attended the signing ceremony in Beijing of the EPC contract (engineering, procurement, construction) for a super-large steel project between Thailand's Sahaviriya Group and Sino-international Heavy Industry Technology Co., Ltd. With a total value amounting to $10 billion, this contract is of great significance to China's heavy machinery industry. The project is scheduled to be divided into several phases, lasting 10 years in total.

Sahaviriya Group has been involved in the steel business for more than 50 years. In 2007, the total production of its 14 steel mills reached 14 million mt, with a domestic market share above 60 percent.
