Chilean iron ore production could increase up to 77.12 percent by 2026, according to a report from the nation’s Copper Commission, Cochilco.
Cochilco unveiled last week the investments it expects for the country’s mining industry: iron ore production could reach 33.3 million mt by 2026. In 2014, Chile’s capacity to produce iron ore was 18.8 million mt. Out of this total, about 11.1 million mt was iron ore of fine Fe content.
Cochilco added that the production volume could be met by both the primary and co-production of the commodity. Production of iron ore of fine Fe content by 2026 could reach 11.9 million mt.
