Canada’s basic metal product prices up 5.1% in Sept over Aug

In September this year, industrial product prices in Canadian industry rose 0.5 percent month on month, following four consecutive months of month-on-month decrease and recording its largest increase since September 2011. The increase in the country's product prices was led by primary metal products and petroleum and coal products, according to the data released by Statistics Canada. Compared with September 2011, the industrial product prices index was down 0.3 percent, recording the second consecutive year-over-year decrease.

The product prices of primary metals in Canada in September this year rose 5.1 percent compared to the previous month and were down 6.5 percent compared to the same month last year. In September, Canadian manufacturers' fabricated metal prices, excepting machinery and equipment, rose slightly by 0.1 percent compared to August and were down one percent year on year.
