Brazil’s GDP up 5.2% in 2004

Brazil's GDP (Gross Domestic Product) rose 4.9% year-on-year in the final quarter of 2004, said Brazil's federal statistics agency, IBGE. GDP grew 5.2% for the whole year, the highest rate since 1994. A 6.2% increase in industrial production and 4.3% rise in consumer demand contributed to the full year's rise. Exports of goods and services, which include exports of products such as steel, cars and iron ore, rose 18% in 2004. Imports increased 14.3% as consumer demand strengthened.
