Brazilian flat steel re-roller and service center Mangels has left bankruptcy protection, after posting a BRL 23.9 million ($7.69 million) EBITDA in Q3, according to a media report from Valor.
Despite Brazil’s adverse economic scenario, Mangels saw its EBITDA in Q3 rise 132 percent, year-on-year.
Mangel’s bankruptcy protection plan was concluded this week by a Sao Paulo state court.
According to the media report, Mangels managed to leave the bankruptcy protection after adopting a number of different strategies, including rigid controls, replacement of executives, and changes in the way it communicated with creditors, employees, clients, suppliers as well as financial institutions.
The company reportedly “changed” its core business, in addition to adopting new strategies in its production, sales, logistics, quality and cash control processes.
“The company has changed radically. We now have a lean structure, we’ve cut expenses and we’re doing whatever it takes to make our operation more efficient, and we’re increasing our production rates,” said the company’s finance, administration and investor relations director, Fabio Mazzini.
