Brazil doubles its nickel output in February

According to the latest data released by the Brazilian Institute of Non-ferrous Metals (ICZ), the country's nickel production which was 2,364 mt in February last year, reached 5,668 mt in February this year, up 3.9 percent compared to January.

In February this year, Brazil exported 63 percent of its total nickel output, while the country's nickel exports recorded a month-on-month decrease of 1.9 percent. Brazil had exported 928 mt of nickel in February 2011.

Meanwhile, in February of the current year nickel sales to the Brazilian domestic market including imports amounted to 1,456 mt, falling by 14.8 percent compared to January and down 10.3 percent year on year.
