BlueScope considers Philippines investment

Australian steel company BlueScope Steel reportedly plans to invest A$100 million in construction of a manufacturing site in the Philippines in order to meet growing demand for steel in the Asia-Pacific region. The company, which already has an existing export sales office in the country, has not disclosed details of the planned investment. Company officials indicate that the investment will be made either by building a wholly-owned subsidiary or via a joint venture with a Filipino company.
