Bhilai Steel reduces production due to coal shortage

According to the statement released from Indian steel producer Steel Authority of India Ltd's (SAIL) facility and India's largest steel plant Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), the company has decided to reduce production of steel by 30% due to shortage of coal. As recently reported by SteelOrbis, depending on the measures taken by SAIL, BSP would cut down production by 20% this month. However, the new decision indicates that this reduction will be 30%. BSP imports 80% of the coal it uses from Australia. However, supply of coal has been halted for a couple of weeks. BSP was supplying coal from BHP Billiton, MIM and Anglo Coal in Australia.
