Chinese leading steelmaker Baosteel published a "Green Purchase Instruction" to control upstream suppliers. A company representative indicated that this document aims to achieve, more green products to enter Baosteel's production process and push suppliers to optimize their own management.
Baosteel's "Green Purchase" will start from purchasing spare parts, fireproof materials, then expanding to iron ore, coal and other areas. Baosteel will cooperate with third party to access supplier, and research eco-friendly and low cost finished steel with qualified suppliers.
Chinese supply chain has started turning "Green". Ma Guoqiang, general manager of Baosteel said, cost and environment protection has become two key points for developing countries, Chinese steel products are aimed to keep a low cost and be eco-friendly to become a winning player in the market.
According to CISA data, in the past 5 years, Chinese steel industry has been gradually increasing investments aiming to save energy and prevent environment pollution. CISA member companies have put 9 percent of all fixed assets investment into pollution prevention.
