Baosteel subsidiaries' production ahead of schedule

The No.3 color coated production line of a subsidiary of Baosteel Group completed its 153’800-metric ton production task two months ahead of schedule. The No.3 color coated production line mainly produces aluminum-plating product and galvanized products for construction use. Starting from formal production on August 18 2004, the production line overcame production difficulties by utilizing improved technologies. Its rate of finished products increased 3.11 percent year on year. The cost for producing one metric ton of product was down RMB 250 ($30) compared to earlier in the year. The company supplies a small quantity of products for Mitsubishi Corporation’s environmentally friendly electrical appliances. In addition, the company’s color coated products were used in the second-phase project in Pudong airport lounge. Meanwhile, by November 10, Meishan Steel, another subsidiary of Baosteel Group, had produced 2.7206 million metric tons of hot rolled sheet/coil, completing its annual production task 51 days ahead of schedule.
