Baosteel releases more details of Luijang project
China's Baosteel recently disclosed more details of the project to move its Pudong Steel factory out of Shanghai. According to Baosteel, once the plant is relocated to Luijang, Pudong Steel will become China's first plant to utilize smelting reduction technology via the COREX C-3000 module. Baosteel confirmed that the construction of the new plant in Luijang will be carried out in two phases. The completion of the first phase in November 2007 will see the plant stand at an annual capacity of 1.6 million tons. The first phase includes the installation of the COREX module and a casting line. The second phase, scheduled for completion in March 2008, will see a heavy plate assembly line added to the plant. SteelOrbis previously announced Baosteel's plans to move its Pudong plant last week.Baosteel releases more details of Luijang project
