On January 19, Chinese steelmaker Baosteel announced its ex-factory prices for certain products for the month of March 2009. The details are as follows:
1. Hot rolled
Prices are up by RMB 200-300/mt ($30-44/mt). After the adjustment, the price of SS400 5.75 mm x 1,250 mm x C is RMB 3,592/mt ($526/mt), while that of SPHC 2.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C is RMB 3,992/mt ($584/mt).
2. Cold rolled
Prices have increased by RMB 300/mt ($44/mt). As a result, the price of DC01 1.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C is RMB 4,226/mt ($619/mt).
3. Hot rolled and pickled
February prices are still in effect. Thus, the price of SPHC 3.0 mm x 1,250 mm x C is still RMB 3,547/mt ($519/mt).
4. Galvanized steel
Prices have seen an increase of RMB 350/mt ($51/mt).
5. Color coated coils
Prices have remained unchanged, with the current prices of TDC51D (TSt01, TSt02, TSt03) 0.5 mm x 1,200 mm x C still at RMB 5,987/mt ($877/mt).
6. Heavy plate and shipbuilding plate
The base prices have decreased RMB 300/mt ($44/mt). Following the adjustment, the price of Q235B 20-30 mm x 2,000-2,500 mm wide and heavy plate is RMB 3,700/mt ($542/mt).
All the above prices exclude taxes (17 percent VAT) and are effective as of January 19, 2009.
