On March 12, MCC Baosteel Technology Services Co. inked a cooperation agreement with Baosteel Development, a subsidiary of major Chinese steel producer Baosteel, for the construction of a new steel slag processing project, as announced by China Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC) on March 17.

According to the agreement, both parties will set up a joint venture, controlled by MCC Baosteel Technology Services with premises covering an area of 90,000 square meters, which will include a converter slag processing line with an annual capacity of 2 million mt and one metal purification line with an annual capacity of 300,000 mt. The project is expected to be completed and to start operation by the first half of 2016. The joint venture will process Baosteel's steel slag, and help reduce its costs.
