Baosteel consolidates position as world’s top producer of stave coolers

Chinese giant steelmaker Baosteel has declared that it has become the world's top producer of stave coolers for blast furnaces, stating that it has successfully won all orders for super blast furnaces currently under construction worldwide.

At the present time, there are seven super blast furnaces under construction across the world, each with a capacity of over 4,000 cubic meters, and Baosteel has won the orders to supply the stave coolers in all cases. Of the seven blast furnaces, only one belongs to Baosteel; the others belong to the world's top steel giants, including Nippon Steel, Voestalpine and AISI.

Besides the abovementioned seven blast furnaces, in recent years all the bigger stave coolers installed worldwide in blast furnaces with capacities over 5,000 cubic meters have been produced by Baosteel. Lately, Baosteel successfully won an order from South Korea-based Hyundai for stave coolers for two blast furnaces with a capacity of 5,500 cubic meters each.

Baosteel claims that by means its technological advances the outstanding advantage of its stave coolers is their longevity, which can exceed 25 years. The producer also emphasizes the environmental and energy-saving advantages of its coolers.

In China, Baosteel has no other competitor in the stave cooler market, and has successfully exported to countries such as Russia, Japan, Europe and USA.
