Baogang Group exceeds output targets in January-June

In the first half of the current year, Inner Mongolia region-based Chinese steelmaker Baotou Iron and Steel (Baogang Group) produced 4.9175 million mt of crude steel, 11,500 mt above the targeted output, and 4.6749 million mt of semi-finished steel, 77,900 mt above target.

In June, 53.05 percent of all input ores used by the steelmaker in its production were from it own resources. As regards major steel product categories, the company's steel rail output in the first half of the current year amounted to 712,900 mt, equal to 59.4 percent of the target for the year.

Baogang Group's annual crude steel capacity exceeds 10 million mt. In 2009 the crude steel output of the company was 10.0537 million mt, up 2.32 percent year on year, while the semi-finished output was 9.6 million mt, up 3.89 percent year on year.
