Austria’s Inteco to upgrade Qatar Steel’s melt shop

Industries Qatar subsidiary Qatar Steel is planning to upgrade its steel melt shop in order to enhance production, the Qatari press has reported.

Accordingly, Qatar Steel has signed a project management contract with Vienna-based Austrian engineering company Inteco. First equipment deliveries are to start in the second quarter of 2010, with commissioning planned for late 2011.

Inteco has already completed basic engineering and constructability studies on upgrading the melt shop in question.
