ArcelorMittal announced plans on Thursday to reopen part of its flat rolled steel mill in Cleveland, Ohio. The section of the mill that is reopening was originally closed in 2008 during the beginning of the recession due to poor market conditions.
The decision to reopen the west side section of the mill was made in part because of customer demand and an optimistic outlook for market condition in the beginning of the second quarter. The revival of the mill will bring back 150 jobs to the Cleveland area. Both of the US Senators from Ohio have issued statements heralding the reopening of the mill as a sign that times are changing for the better in Cleveland.
