According to information received by SteelOrbis, ArcelorMittal is planning to idle its rolling mill in Conshohoken, Pennsylvania. According to Mary Beth Holdford, a spokesperson for ArcelorMittal, the facility “will be idled in the next year due to limited demand and unfairly traded imports of steel.” The company’s Coatesville, Pennsylvania and Burns Harbor, Indiana facilities are not affected and capacity will be transferred to these sites.

ArcelorMittal Conshohocken is a plate production facility located on the Schuylkill River adjacent to Philadelphia. Conshohocken operates steel plate facilities including a 100-inch Steckel mill, quench and facilities temper, annealing, normalizing, blaster, cut-to-length leveler and heat-treating equipment. The Conshohocken facility is capable of producing 500,000 tons of plate annually.
