Confirming recent information assessed by SteelOrbis that rebar prices in the Brazilian domestic market are currently declining, steelmaker ArcelorMittal made it evident that the fall in steel prices has been also affecting other “non-physical” marketplaces.

One month after launching an ecommerce platform in Brazil, ArcelorMittal showed a decline in the price of the CA-50, 10mm thickness rebar it sells domestically. The e-commerce price for the product has followed the same downtrend that affected most Brazilian mills that sell rebar.

According to Arcelor, the product is now being sold at BRL 31.30 per 7.4 kg, 14.7 percent down, month-on-month, from BRL 36.73 per 7.4 kg.
