Bosnia-based iron ore miner ArcelorMittal Prijedor has announced that redundancy notices affecting up to 300 jobs are being postponed at its iron ore mining operations. The redundancies were due to take effect from September 1.

The company is seeking to resolve with the government of the Serbian Republic in Bosnia [Republika Srpska] the serious issues that currently stand in the way of a long-term, sustainable future for its mining operations in Prijedor. Without a satisfactory resolution of these matters, the company said it will have no choice but to reduce current operational capacity and the workforce.
