Arcelor expects 2006 profit close to 2005

“Arcelor is optimistic over prospects for 2006 and expects its gross operating profit to be close to that achieved last year”, said the company's Chief Executive Guy Dolle. Arcelor reported a core profit of Euro 5.64 billion in 2005. Guy Dolle indicated that apparent demand for flat steel is strong in Europe, given low inventories and an economic upturn.
