Anshan Steel to build 2130 CR production line

At the 1st temporary shareholders meeting of Angang New Steel Company Limited (ANSC) on February 28, 2005, the company disclosed that it would establish a new two million annual ton capacity CR production line. The new line would compliment the company’s two existing production lines. The China State Development and Reform Commission and company shareholders both reportedly approved the project. The project will include a pickling-cold rolling mill, a continuous annealing mill and a refining mill. The major product specifications will cover thickness of 0.3-2.0mm and widths of 1000-1980mm. The intention is to appeal to market demand for high-grade CR products in the auto, home appliance and construction industries. Anshan Steel’s two existing CR production lines have a combined annual productivity of 3 million tons of high-grade product. The auto and home appliance industries have widely adopted the sheet, and it has been exported to Europe, the Americas, Japan and South Korea. The 2130mm CR production line will make use of a continuous annealing process in order to further improve product quality.
