In 2009 Liaoning Province-based Chinese steelmaker Angang's Bayuquan production base produced 5.282 million mt of pig iron, 5.047 million mt of crude steel and 4.347 million mt of finished steel, thus achieving its targets for the year in question. Meanwhile, the main economic and technical indices at the Bayuquan production base, including blast furnace utilization rate, total coke consumption per metric ton of steel and total iron ore consumption per metric ton of steel, reached advanced levels in 2009.

At present, Angang's Bayuquan base is able to produce heavy plate and coils in a total of 29 series and 129 grades, thereby providing a solid foundation for the production of high-grade steels.
