AK Steel announces June price hikes

AK Steel has announced it will increase base prices for all carbon steel products by $30 /nt ($33 /mt or $1.50 cwt.), effective for orders received for shipment on June 1, 2006 and later. AK will also raise its zinc coating extras on new orders of galvanized steel sheet products due to rapidly increasing zinc prices. The Middletown, Ohio-based flat rolled producer says that except for a small amount of hot rolled steel, the company is sold out of all carbon steel products for the second quarter.
