A new iron ore dock commissioned at the Chinese port of Qingdao

A jetty, an approach bridge and a 400.000 mt iron ore dock at Dongjiakou dockland, Qingdao port of China was commissioned with a ceremony on August 13.

The dock has a length of 510 m, a width of 40 m and a depth of 24.5 m while the approach bridge is 458 m-long and jetty is 2,316 m-long. The total value of the dock is RMB3.8 billion and its annual capacity is 25 million mt.

Chang Dechuan, the Chairman of Port of Qingdao, has said that the new dock at Dongjiakou dockland will create a change and save huge amounts of transportation costs, which can contribute to controlling iron ore prices.
