Turkey’s passenger car sales up 19.7 percent in Jan-Apr

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive distributor Association (ODD), in the first four months of this year the domestic passenger car market increased by 19.7 percent compared to the same period last year, with sales increasing to 171,433 units. In April, domestic sales of passenger cars totaled 56,999 units, rising 10.1 percent over the previous month and up 24.9 percent compared to April 2012.

In the first four months, sales of light commercial vehicles declined by 1.4 percent compared to the first four months of last year, falling to 54,746 units. In April, sales of light commercial vehicles totaled 16,576 units, down 2.4 percent compared to March this year and falling 4.2 percent year on year.

The ODD has forecast that total sales in the Turkish automotive sector in 2013 will amount to 790,000-840,000 units.
