New passenger car registrations in Turkey up 77.4% in Jan over Dec

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in January of the current year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 123,019 units, the highest level recorded since January 2012, increasing by 70.4 percent month on month and down 2.3 percent year on year.

New passenger car registrations in January totaled 75,391 units, increasing by 77.4 percent as compared to December 2012 and down 0.3 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 61.3 percent of total registrations. Small truck registrations in January, on the other hand, increased by 135 percent month on month and were down 3.8 percent year on year, amounting to 29,492 units. Small truck registrations constituted 24 percent of total registrations.
