New passenger car registrations in Turkey up 48.1% in May

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May of the current year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey increased by 32.6 percent year on year to 136,492 units, up 37.3 percent on month-on-month basis.

New passenger car registrations in May this year totaled 76,129 units, increasing by 37.7 percent as compared to April and up 48.1 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 55.8 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations. New small truck registrations in May, on the other hand, increased by 33.3 percent month on month and were up 7.2 percent year on year, amounting to 19,417 units. Small truck registrations constituted 14.2 percent of total new registrations.
