New passenger car registrations in Turkey up 6.3% in H1

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in June of the current year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey decreased by 29.3 percent year on year to 56,464 units, down 58.6 percent on month-on-month basis. In the first half of the year, new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 564,486 units, rising 6.3 percent compared to the same hald of the previous year.

New passenger car registrations in June this year totaled 28,264 units, decreasing by 62.9 percent as compared to May and down 26 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 50.1 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations. New small truck registrations in June, on the other hand, decreased by 65.8 percent month on month and were up 46.7 percent year on year, amounting to 6,641 units. Small truck registrations constituted 11.8 percent of total new registrations.
